An Ode To Solitude

It’s a shame really. We will hopefully never again enjoy these rare moments of solitude. Just me and the city. I do want to hear the humdrum that assures me the city is indeed alive, and yet. The respectful silence of the empty streets and the stunning beauty of an empty city, it’s monuments suddenly laid bare and picture perfect. Unmolested by its jaded inhabitants and the hordes of tchotchke hunting tourists. A fleeting snapshot of what could be, if we were not so obsessed with going back to the way things were and instead embrace the idea of a brighter future.
